Xcelerated Performance: Habit Stacking

Habit stacking is one of the most effective ways to accelerate your growth. The idea is simple, stack something you need or want to do with an already-established habit. Here is an example of my productive morning formula:

  • 1.) Wake up between 4:30-5 am and get dressed for the gym.

  • 2.) Mix my pre-workout nutrition and Immediately jump in the car.

  • 3.) Drive to the gym and sit in the car where I drink my pre-workout, meditate, and Bible study for at least 30 minutes.

  • 4.) Walk into the gym and immediately jump on the treadmill for an hour of slow steady state cardio. First, because I sit most days and need the extra movement, and secondly because it allows me The most focused work of my day. I can walk at a 4-6 incline and 3km/h pace while I think, study, work on self-development, plan, and ideate, and even map content.

  • 5.) after I walk I weight train for 45 minutes to an hour.

  • 6.) hit the shower, make breakfast and itโ€™s 8:30 am.

  • 7.) By 9 am Iโ€™m ready to crush the day. This is a morning formula I figured out after I lost my health. The moment came when we started having kids and growing a business. I got fat and out of shape because, by the end of the day, I had no energy left to go to the gym. This led to more self-loathing, comfort eating, etc. I had every intention of working out in the middle of the day, but something always came up. Until one day I had a "screw this" moment. I ended up turning my entire day upside down and prioritizing my self-care in the morning when my wife, kids or business didn't need my attention. I started with walking and listening to books, and over time that grew into bible study, meditation, journaling, walking, listening to self-development, thinking, planning, and lifting weights. The habits started to STACK!
