Brand Damage: Who's crushing it. Who's not. And a thought on brand.

Who's crushing it(still): GaryVee

There is arguably no person under 40 who's creating content that hasn't been influenced by Gary Vaynerchuk.

While he's known for his uncensored, shoot from the hip style, many of his 30 million social followers don't pay attention to the high level business moves he and his team are making.

And that's why he's in today newsletter.

In the media space, Vaynermedia is closing in on being a $300MM business and no agency has put out more Super Bowl commercials over the last five years, despite being a fairly young competitor.

Vaynerchuk also just capped off his 2nd annual VeeCon, which saw close to 10,000 attendees, 200 speakers, and 65 different panels packed inside an NFL stadium for a 3-day experience.

You can love him or absolutely hate his content but you can't deny he understands the power of brand.

Who's not: The Biden Administration

While President Biden and his White House team are not technically a business, they do have a brand, and that brand is leading consumer to or from their vision.

They personify Brand Damage this morning because American trust in the United State government is at an all time low.

Consider this insight from think-tank R Street:

29% of Democrats say they trust the government right now.9% of Republicans say they trust the government right now.

And a recent Gallup survey found that:

36% of Americans trust the Supreme Court right now.12% of Americans trust congress right now.32% of Americans trust the nation's public school system.21% of Americans trust newspapers as a source of information.

Unlike a business, the implications of such continuous mismanagement are far greater than a failed organization.

A thought on brand:

Of the 220+ million people that are on social media everyday in the United States, only 1% are creating content in order to build a brand!

It may seem like an uphill climb for your ambitions but understand that this period in time is the largest window of opportunity you and your business will have to leverage content.

Go make something.

And do it again tomorrow.
